  • ANCC Call for Healthcare Professionals with Disaster Experience

    American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), one of the world's largest and most prestigious healthcare credentialing organizations, requests help from the American Red Cross to identify U.S.-based healthcare professionals with disaster experience to help develop the first interprofessional certification for individuals who respond to disasters. Valerie Cole, Disaster Health Services Manager, has been representing the American Red Cross in this work. This credential will assure employers and the public that members of the healthcare team have mastered an interprofessional body of knowledge and skills related to all phases of the disaster cycle. The goal is to promote successful outcomes for the public, disaster responders, and healthcare professionals involved in a disaster. Professionals from a range of disciplines are needed, including: • Emergency Management • Emergency Medical Services • Medicine & Nursing (MD, DO, RN, APRN, PA) • Behavioral Health (Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, etc.) • Public Health • Pharmacy • Respiratory Therapy Eligible participants will help develop exam questions, field test, and respond to a role delineation study, and contribute to setting the passing standard.
