The Million Hearts Initiative is a great way to give back to your community!
Million Hearts - led by the American Heart Association - is a nationwide initiative aimed at preventing one million hearts attacks and strokes through health risk assessments.
Volunteering is easy! ONA, or a volunteer organizer, organizes the event and provides all of the necessary resources, including patient education materials, blood pressure cuffs and more. All that you have to do is show up with a smile and your stethoscope!
Continuing education is also built into the program. Several modules explaining the initiative and the risk assessments are available. You will be awarded contact hours once you complete the modules, perform assessments at a Million Hearts event and input data from the assessments into the Million Hearts database.
We aim to have many Million Hearts member volunteers across the state in order to accommodate requests from all of our community leader friends.
If you're interested in volunteering, sign up! ONA staff will contact you when an opportunity for a Million Hearts event comes about.
