Getting the Most Out of Your Membership

Have you been looking for more ways to get involved in ONA but have no idea where to start? Have you been thinking about ways to enhance your professional development? ONA recognizes the value of what every nurse’s unique perspective brings to the table. We also know that ONA members are busy, so we aim to create opportunities for our members to get involved in a way that fits their schedule and personal goals.

Looking to get more involved in health policy? Consider joining the Health Policy Council or becoming a Legislative Ambassador. Looking to stay informed for your personal advocacy efforts? Sign up for the ONA Advocacy Network here. For an immersive, empowering day of education and networking, attend the annual Nurses Day at the Statehouse. *Info for 2021 coming soon

Looking for professional development? Visit our new CE4Nurses.org website and access over 60 continuing education courses on topics such as advocacy, medical cannabis, workplace violence, nursing law and rules, health literacy, and immunizations. ONA members have access to our robust library for free*. (*a few exceptions apply, don’t forget to log in to the site with the same email address ONA has on file with your membership account)

Looking to learn more about collective bargaining? Talk with your labor representative about getting involved in your local unit. Take one of our CE studies, such as Issue-Based Advocacy or I’ve Earned a Seat at the Table: Now What? Have a specific question? Reach out to us!

Looking to improve your writing skills and get published? Join the Publications Committee or talk with the CE team about writing an article for ONA! We help members gain writing experience, which can be an easy way to brush up on your writing skills and be a great addition to your resume or CV.

Looking to advocate for nursing issues important to you? Joining an ONA caucus is a great way to start getting involved. Caucuses are flexible memberships with no term-commitments and just a few meetings per year.

             -Environmental and Community Health Caucus

             -Caucus on Advancing Nursing Education

             NEW:

             -Workplace Violence Caucus

             -Racial Health Disparities Caucus
